Can God Count On Us? - Bro. Loyd Chamberlain

God could count on David.

I Samuel 17:4-11
And there went out a champion out of the camp of the Philistines, named Goliath, of Gath, whose height was six cubits and a span.
And he had an helmet of brass upon his head, and he was armed with a coat of mail; and the weight of the coat was five thousand shekels of brass.
And he had greaves of brass upon his legs, and a target of brass between his shoulders.
And the staff of his spear was like a weaver's beam; and his spear's head weighed six hundred shekels of iron: and one bearing a shield went before him.
And he stood and cried unto the armies of Israel, and said unto them, Why are ye come out to set your battle in array? am not I a Philistine, and ye servants of Saul? choose you a man for you, and let him come down to me.
If he be able to fight with me, and to kill me, then will we be your servants: but if I prevail against him, and kill him, then shall ye be our servants, and serve us.
And the Philistine said, I defy the armies of Israel this day; give me a man, that we may fight together.
When Saul and all Israel heard those words of the Philistine, they were dismayed, and greatly afraid.

I Samuel 17:25-26
And the men of Israel said, Have ye seen this man that is come up? surely to defy Israel is he come up: and it shall be, that the man who killeth him, the king will enrich him with great riches, and will give him his daughter, and make his father's house free in Israel.
And David spake to the men that stood by him, saying, What shall be done to the man that killeth this Philistine, and taketh away the reproach from Israel? for who is this uncircumcised Philistine, that he should defy the armies of the living God?

David had the guts to stand up FOR God.

If we can shove the devil out of the way, we can do the same things for God.

I Samuel 17:34-36
And David said unto Saul, Thy servant kept his father's sheep, and there came a lion, and a bear, and took a lamb out of the flock:
And I went out after him, and smote him, and delivered it out of his mouth: and when he arose against me, I caught him by his beard, and smote him, and slew him.
Thy servant slew both the lion and the bear: and this uncircumcised Philistine shall be as one of them, seeing he hath defied the armies of the living God.

After David testified, Saul had enough sense to let him go.

Read your Bible; it's your sword!

God could count on Daniel.

Daniel 10:1-3
In the third year of Cyrus king of Persia a thing was revealed unto Daniel, whose name was called Belteshazzar; and the thing was true, but the time appointed was long: and he understood the thing, and had understanding of the vision.
In those days I Daniel was mourning three full weeks.
I ate no pleasant bread, neither came flesh nor wine in my mouth, neither did I anoint myself at all, till three whole weeks were fulfilled.

He fasted for three weeks.

When you're praying and fasting together, God reveals things to you.

Daniel 6:4-10
Then the presidents and princes sought to find occasion against Daniel concerning the kingdom; but they could find none occasion nor fault; forasmuch as he was faithful, neither was there any error or fault found in him.
Then said these me, We shall not find any occasion against this Daniel, except we find it against him concerning the law of his God.
Then these presidents and princes assembled together to the king, and said thus unto him, King Darius, live for ever.
All the presidents of the kingdom, the governors, and the princes, the counsellors, and the captains, have consulted together to establish a royal statute, and to make a firm decree, that whosoever shall ask a petition of any God or man for thirty days, save of thee, O king, he shall be cast into the den of lions.
Now, O king, establish the decree, and sign the writing, that it be not changed, according to the law of the Medes and Persians, which altereth not.
Wherefore king Darius signed the writing and the decree.
Now when Daniel knew that the writing was signed, he went into his house; and his windows being open in his chamber toward Jerusalem, he kneeled upon his knees three times a day, and prayed, and gave thanks before his God, as he did aforetime.

Stephen forgave the men while they killed him; Daniel continued doing God's will though he knew he would be cast to the lions.

Can God count on you to praise and worship Him?

Make a joyful noise!

God wants us to praise Him!

Psalm 150
Praise ye the Lord.  Praise God in his sanctuary: praise him in the firmament of his power.
Praise him for his mighty acts: praise him according to his excellent greatness.
Praise him with the sound of the trumpet: praise him with the psaltery and harp.
Praise him with stringed instruments and organs.
Praise him upon the loud cymbals: praise him upon the high sounding cymbals.
Let everything that hath breath praise the Lord.  Praise ye the Lord.

God wants us to praise Him!

He created us and everything around us!

The world should hear God in our singing.

Waiting Tables - Bro. Steve Hollis

Acts 6:5 a
And the saying pleased the whole multitude: and they chose Stephen, a man full of faith and of the Holy Ghost...

Acts 7:59-60
And they stoned Stephen, calling upon God, and saying, Lord Jesus, receive my spirit.
And he kneeled down, and cried with a loud voice, Lord, lay not this sin to their charge.  And when he had said this, he fell asleep.

Acts 6:8
And Stephen, full of faith and power, did great wonders and miracles among the people.

Stephen was appointed to feed the widows, not to do "great things", not to preach, not to sing, but to wait tables.

He was a servant, but he did great wonders and miracles!

They could not tear down what he said; so they tore at him with their teeth.

A year to die for.

Stephen wasn't a chosen one for long before he was killed, but he did great and mighty works and miracles.

God chose us to be servants.

Stephen was killed for the great things he did for God.

There is so much more we can learn by being a servant.

A leader is just a servant with responsibilities.

Stephen was full of faith and power and the Holy Ghost.  So much so, that he forgave the people while they were biting, stoning, and KILLING him.

We claim to be full of the same Holy Ghost, but when another saint cuts us off on the way to church, we get mad and hold a grudge.

Stephen was just a man, but he ensured that his final words were of forgiveness.

Point 1 - You don't have to be great, to be great in God's eyes.

Point 2 - He forgave them while they were killing him.

Death, Burial, And Resurrection - Bro. Jonathan Chamberlain

I Corinthians 15:1-8
Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand;
By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain.
For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;
And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:
And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve.
After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep.
After that, he was seen of James; then of all the apostles.
And last of all he was seen of me also, as of one born out of due time.

I declare unto you the gospel...
...wherein ye stand.
...what I preached unto you.

Gospel - Christ's death, burial, and resurrection

Romans 5:18-21
Therefore as by the offence of one judgment came upon all men to condemnation; even so by the righteousness of one the free gift came upon all men unto justification of life.
For as by one man's disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous.
Moreover the law entered, that the offence might abound.  But where sin abounded, grace did much more abound:
That as sin hath reigned unto death, even so might grace reign through righteousness unto eternal life by Jesus Christ our Lord.

Grace reigned through righteousness.

Romans 6:1-4
What shall we say then?  Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound?
God forbid.  How shall we, tat are dead to sin, live any longer therein?
Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death?
Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.

We are buried with Christ in baptism!

Romans 6:4-7
Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.
For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection:
Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin.
For he that is dead is freed from sin.

Our old man is crucified with Jesus. We need to crucify our flesh.

You can't just sprinkle a little dirt on a dead man! That's not burying! The same way, we need to completely cover ourselves with water when we bury our flesh.

Romans 6:7-10
For he that is dead is freed from sin.
Now if we be dead with Christ, we believe that we all also live with him:
Knowing that Christ being raised from the dead dieth no more; death hath no more dominion over him.
For in that he died, he died unto sin once: but in that he liveth, he liveth unto God.

Colossians 2:8-14
Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.
For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily.
And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power:
In whom also ye are circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, in putting off the body of the sins of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ:
Buried with him in baptism, wherein also ye are risen with him through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised him from the dead.
And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses;
Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way nailing it to the cross;

On Pentecost, Peter preached the death, burial, and resurrection.

Acts 2:38-42
Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.
For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.
And with many other words did he testify and exhort, saying, Save yourselves from this untoward generation.
Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls.
And they continued stedfastly in the apostles' doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers.

Death - crucifixion - repent

Burial - tomb - baptism

Resurrection - rising up - Holy Ghost

Gospel: good news

What Will You Do When God Begins To Mock You? - Bro. Charley Chamberlain

Psalm 37:1-7
Fret not thyself because of evildoers, neither be thou envious against the workers of iniquity.
For they shall soon be cut down like the grass, and wither as the green herb.
Trust in the Lord, and do good; so shalt thou dwell in the land, and verily thou shalt be fed.
Delight thyself also in the Lord: and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart.
Commit thy way unto the Lord; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass.
And he shall bring forth thy righteousness as the light, and thy judgement as the noonday.
Rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for him: fret not thyself because of him who prospereth in his way, because of the man who bringeth wicked devices to pass.

Stick with the good way.

Psalm 37:8-11
Cease from anger, and forsake wrath: fret not thyself in any wise to do evil.
For evildoers shall be cut off: but those that wait upon the Lord, they shall inherit the earth.
For yet a little while, and the wicked shall not be: yea, thou shalt diligently consider his place, and it shall not be.
But the meek shall inherit the earth; and shall delight themselves in the abundance of peace.

Matthew 5:5
Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth.

Psalm 37:12-13
The wicked plotteth against the just, and gnasheth upon him with his teeth.
The Lord shall laugh at him: for he teeth that his day is coming.

God will laugh AT the wicked.

Proverbs 1:26
I also will laugh at your calamity; I will mock when your fear cometh;

Jude 1:14-15
And Enoch also, the seventh from Adam, prophesied of these, saying, Behold, the Lord cometh with ten thousands of his saints,
To execute judgement upon all, and to convince all that are ungodly among them of all their ungodly deeds which they have ungodly committed, and of all their hard speeches which ungodly sinners have spoken against him.

If you don't get right with God, God will mock your sin as each one heats hell hotter.

Proverbs 1:27-28
When your fear cometh as desolation, and your destruction cometh as a whirlwind; when distress and anguish cometh upon you.
Then shall they call upon me, but I will not answer; they shall seek me early, but they shall not find me:

Question: Isn't Proverbs 1:28 a direct contradiction of Romans 10:13?

Romans 10:13
For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.

Answer: NO!  At Judgement Day, you will only be saved from your misconceptions about God.

Rob Bell's Everything Is Spiritual

I do not agree with everything Rob Bell says, but this particular video really made me think...  It is an excellent examination of Genesis 1, both biblically and scientifically...

God is asking you to stand out and be what you are called to be.  Whether that means you join in Operation Living Word or not, remember, "For many are called, but few are chosen, (Matthew 22:14)" and "...ye are a chosen generation... (I Peter 2:9)"  God has chosen our generation; it's time we stood out!
